Our Team

The Company

Established in 2018, Saxon Safety provide health, safety, fire and CDM advice to a range of companies and contractors. Saxon Safety is SSIP accredited and is also an associate member of the National Association of Shopfitters. Saxon Safety are also a Corporate Member of the Association for Project Safety (APS), and are an Affiliate Membership Organisation of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE).

The Team

Carl Sievewright CMIOSH AIFireE CMaPS – Director

Carl is a Chartered Health and Safety Practitioner with more than 10 years of experience in construction and contractor management. He is also a Certified Member of the Association of Project Safety, an Associate Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers and an OHSCR registered H&S consultant. Carl has been supported all CDM duty holders, including Client CDM advisor for defence construction projects in excess of £100,000,000, as well as being involved in leisure projects such as the Four Seasons Hotel Refurbishment at Hook, The Falcon Hotel at Castle Ashby, and the Ageas Bowl Hilton Hotel and a number of residential and retail construction projects.

Carl has advised principal designers, helping put together pre-construction information packs, carrying out site inspections, to compiling the health & safety file and operations & maintenance manuals. These vary from housing developments, commercial properties, interior fit-out and retail fit-out projects. Carl has also worked as health and safety manager for some well-respected shopfitting contractors and has been involved as principal contractor for projects in many major shopping centres and retail destinations throughout the United Kingdom, as well as in various railway stations and airports.

Mark Burton TechIOSH – Fire & Construction Safety Advisor

Mark has over 40 years of experience working as a Project Manager in the leisure, retail and interior fit-out industry both contractor and client-side. This has involved projects from small scale roll-outs, up to a twenty-eight million pound hotel new-build and managing Contract Management teams. Mark brings the skills and understanding of the Project Manager to the health & safety role. This enables us to assist Clients in realistically assessing the design risks, from real contract experience and producing pre-construction information packs, supporting clients at site meetings, and identifying relevant information for operations and maintenance manuals. Marks recent leisure experience includes the Ageas Bowl Hilton Hotel, The Four Seasons at Hook and previously, the Hyde Park Hotel – Knightsbridge.

For Clients, Mark is able to provide a genuine experience of determining construction risks, assist in planning temporary works and help assess the implications of the design on the programme. This may continue to assist in reviewing the impact of any changes to the nature of the work. Mark is ideally placed to assist contractors in fulfilling their legal obligations with regard to health & safety and provide support to the site management team.

Stewart Andrews TechIOSH – Fire, Health & Safety Advisor

Stewart is a retired Army Officer. His last appointment in the rank of Lieutenant Colonel was the Senior Training Safety Officer of Salisbury Plain Training Area, he was in this post for four years. He was responsible for all aspects of training safety over a training ground of 96,000 acres which included the largest urban training village in the United Kingdom, two heavy weapons live firing ranges, multiple specialist training facilities, two personal weapons live firing establishments and three training camps with up to 1000 bed spaces in each. All three sites had technical accommodation and food services areas. The training area would be used by ~120,000 military and civilian personnel annually.

Stewart’s previous experience of managing high-risk activities at a high-intensity level, and his knowledge of the fundamental factors in general health and safety enables him to be deployed in a wide range of areas. He specialises in Fire Safety and Risk Management.

Emma Andrews TechIOSH – Health, Safety & CDM Advisor

Emma joined the company in October 2019 to give admin support to the business.

Having passed her IOSH Managing safely in 2019, Emma has recently completed a Certificate in Principles of Business Administration to help continue improving her skill set, knowledge and capabilities within the team. Emma successfully completed the NCRQ certificate in applied health and safety in January 2021, and achieved the accolade of top student in the SSIP Assessor training course in June 2021.

Tom Waite AIOSH AaPS– Health, Safety & CDM Advisor

Tom joined us in June 2021 as CDM Support Coordinator, adding to the existing team as we look to take on more clients and develop into new avenues. Initially, Tom will be helping with administrative procedures, producing O&M’s and COSHH assessments, and reviewing Risk Assessments for our clients. Tom worked for a shopfitting company for a number of years, both on-site and in the office, so has good practical experience on which to build his health, safety and CDM knowledge. Since joining Tom has already gained his IOSH Safety, Health and Environment for Construction Site Managers certificate, and passed with distinction, the NEBOSH Health and Safety Management for Construction course. Tom’s ongoing development will be invaluable to the company as we look to grow our operation and help to deliver upon the ever-growing need for Health & Safety services.

Harry Foxwell – Health, Safety & CDM Support Administrator

Harry Joined the team in November 2021 and provides office-based admin and coordination support to the advisors. Harry has enrolled on the NCRQ Level 6 Certificate in Applied Health and Safety and has already completed the IOSH Safety, Health and Environment for Construction Site Managers certificate.
