Saxon Safety was appointed as Health, Safety and CDM advisors by the client and principal designer, to assist with the safe delivery of this prestigious property, in the heart of Stockbridge High Street.

The project consisted of a phased re-fit of the bedrooms, and
communal areas, following a new company taking over the running of the hotel from a chain. We assisted with the CDM responsibilities through the pre-construction phase, during the construction phase and assisted with the health and safety file and operations and maintenance manuals.

Challenges

This project was a trading refurbishment which requires very careful consideration across a number of areas, particularly the fire strategy and managing customers and workers movements.

Parts of the property are listed, which presented its own issues with some works needing to be put on hold whilst approval was granted, and during the project the Coronavirus Lockdown took place, so we worked with the Principal Contractor to make sure they could work safely and re-open the construction site.
